TMNT:SSB April & Casey

Designing April was fairly easy but also a lot of fun. Her design has had a few major changes over the years so I picked a blend of some of my favourites. I added a turtleneck purely as a visual pun, since she hangs out with turtles. Haha me. The rest is pretty fairly standard with a jacket, jeans and boots. I took a bit of inspiration for her hairstyle from My Hero Academia (MHA)’s Ochako Uraraka, then added a ponytail at the end. I wanted to give her an almost impish, sassy kind of look. I had a bit of trouble however deciding whether to colour the jacket or the turtleneck yellow so I played around with the jacket’s design a bit and decided on having a yellow turtleneck with a grey and white jacket with yellow stripes.

Casey was also very straightforward to design as well. I borrowed mostly from his 2003 incarnation, with some of the IDW a hint of 2012 as well as Midoriya from MHA. The IDW part being his jacket with the 2003 build, the initials of the creators of TMNT, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird on each of his hockey sticks from 2012 and lastly, the red sneakers from Midoriya.

I like to think that the reason April is also wearing a jacket is because Casey bought her one for her birthday, or they just both like wearing jackets. Take your pick.
