ARBITERS Pages 12-13

Mimic and Wraith jumping down to help out their fellow Clanmate. I felt that adding the motion lines would help sell the fact that they are jumping down from the tree behind the samurai patrol for a sneak attack. I also decided to have them mostly in shadow to show that they were in the dark, and because it looks really badass. The next scene establishes the fact that they will kill the samurai, unlike most other series that have a no kill thing for their protagonists. I figured that since this is a battle for survival, neither side would be very keen on letting the other live, so this serves to showcase the main characters skills and the tone of the fights as well.

The panels on the second page being different colours is intentional, as it helps separate it from the one below it so it doesn’t look confusing.

In case the motion was hard to follow, I’ll explain. Wraith had thrown his kunai at one of the samurai while Mimic stabbed the other in the open gap of their armour. Wraith then does a spinning jump to grab the kunai from the samurai’s head and uses the momentum from that spin to continue around the samurai which will follow through to the next scene.
