ARBITERS Pages 4-5

The opening page is meant to set the scene for the comic, as well as the opening narration by Wraith, to set the overall tone of the story as a whole. It’s serious and lets the reader know right from the start what the central conflict is and a brief statement on prior events without becoming too exposition heavy. It establishes the samurai as a dangerous force and the Clan’s survival hangs in the balance. If they fail, then they all die.

I feel that the page was a little lacking in imagery and still a bit too text heavy, but I’d say it’s not so bad considering this is my first genuine attempt at making a comic. Thankfully I’ve had this idea in mind for quite some time so coming up with the plot for this comic was relatively easy. I think the onomatopoeia needs some work though, either colour wise or placement wise or perhaps both. Originally I had a glowing effect to show the light from the moon to make it ‘pop’ more, but that made the characters and background blow up a bit and it would make the imagery cluttered, so I left it out.
