ARBITERS Pages 6-7

Showing the title page felt appropriate to include to indicate the end of the narration and start of the story. I figured that I would have to, in the limited amount of pages, establish the characters in a way that wasn’t extremely extensive, as it would waste some pages and would hurt the pacing as well, so I decided to simply introduce them in a way that gave the readers a clue as to what they are like, which will be expanded upon later in the story and other issues, should I decide to do so, which I most likely will.

The first actual scene here is meant to establish Wraith as the serious, no nonsense type. He’s not very socially adept, often comes off as cold, distant and unfeeling. He’s blunt and doesn’t have any patience for tomfoolery. His design largely remains unchanged from his original concept, though he did wear a red trench coat of sorts, but I felt that it would’ve made him a little too noticeable, so he just has a scarf instead, which I think just looks really good.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s Mimic. She’s a cheery and optimistic person, and a bit silly and childish at times as well. She is caring and a bit of a flirt at times as well. Her introduction serves to show more of her silly side, but serious when the situation calls for it. She’s fun to draw but a bit of a pain to colour, since she’s got so much stuff on her.
